Join Our Foundation Board!

We are recruiting new Board members to help us move forward with the many initiatives tied to our 2021-2024 strategic plan.  The Foundation intends to:

  • Promote the monitoring and preservation of cultural resources in support of the Arizona Site Steward Program through program and process enhancements in the area of education and development of volunteer resources.

  • Support the administration of the Arizona Site Steward Program through structured volunteer efforts and collaboration.

  • Solicit funds to advance the aspirations of the Arizona Site Steward Program through grant facilitation, community outreach, corporate alliances, and cultural recognition.

We have several director positions available:

Board Chairperson – responsibilities include: preside at all meeting of the Board, oversee all aspects of committees, sign all Board documents and instruments, speak with outside groups and the media, budget creation, serve as the statutory agent for the organization

Board Vice Chair – responsibilities include: serve as the presiding officer in the absence of the Chairperson, assist Chairperson

Secretary – duties include: prepare, keep and distribute minutes, prepare and distribute meeting notices, have charge of all the books and records

Arizona Land Manager Representative

Several At-Large positions - these positions do not have to be filled by Site Stewards, Land Managers or Regional Coordinators.  At-Large board members will provide fundraising, social media, website management, community outreach skills, educator experience and/or Tribal representation. 

*Our goal is to have representatives from several Arizona regions*

We are looking for the following skill sets:

Fundraising – donor development, sponsorship connections, grant writing

Social Media – creating posts, sharing appropriate posts from other organizations, responding to comments, assist with marketing, assist with fundraising initiatives (like Arizona Gives Day).

Website management – familiar with Wix.com

Community Outreach – people comfortable with speaking to groups, hosting tables, etc.

Educators – teachers or informal educators who love to teach about archaeology and native peoples

Native American Community Members – Tribal members who would like to support respectful conversations and interactions with Site Stewards and the public about their heritage.

This Board position is a two-year commitment.  We are currently meeting monthly via Zoom, but will be meeting in-person, with phone-in capability, as pandemic restrictions allow.
